about

Exile – DL - Escaping a bad situation by a geographical move, but one that’s become too far away over time. I reckon David Rowley’s animated drumming adds a great energy to the song. FB - Somewhere between a pop song and folk song, this one rollicks along and its jaunty melody belies the dark tenor of Di’s lyric. Running away from or running towards? Sometimes hard to tell. Sometimes both.

lyrics

EXILE
I don’t know how it came to this, a desertscape, all amiss
I just knew I couldn’t stay, I couldn’t get far enough away
I don’t know how it came to be, a broken dream, such entropy
I just knew I couldn’t stay, I couldn’t get far enough away
So let me love you for a while, and I’ll escape this exile
For you I’d fly across the skies, just to gaze into your eyes
I don’t know how you caused me pain, your distant smile, so arcane
I just knew I couldn’t stay, but I didn’t want to be this far away
Let me love you for a while. Let me love you... for a while
